Public Kiln Firing in Olympia, WA

Located in Olympia, WA. This new space is available for anyone, from hobbyists to production potters! After using public firing spaces to fire my work for over 5 years I'm finally in a position to have my own kiln space, and I want to share this incredible privilege with my local community!

Some details about the kilns:

I have 3 manual kilns available to use of varying sizes. They're all vintage manual models that I have had serviced and work perfectly. I fire to cone 08 for a bisque firing and cone 6 for a glaze firing.

Details and Pricing:

The largest kiln is a Sugarcreek Firechief manual kiln (which is approximately the same size as a modern Skutt 1027). The interior dimensions are 27 in tall by 23 in wide. Pricing is $25 for a half shelf (22" x 11"), or $40 for a whole shelf (22" round), or $80 for the entire kiln.

The medium sized kiln is an Olympic 1823 manual kiln. The interior dimensions are 23 in tall by 17 in wide. Pricing is $18 for a half shelf (15.5" x 7 3/4"), $30 for a whole shelf (15.5" round), or $60 for the whole kiln.

The smallest sized kiln is a vintage Skutt 145 manual kiln (equivalent to a Skutt 714 today), Pricing is $15 for a half shelf (13" x 6.5"), $20 for a whole shelf (13" round), or $40 for the whole kiln.

I understand the financial hardship that artists often face as a means of making a living from the work we make. Please reach out if you need financial assistance and we can work together to figure out a solution together!

Additional considerations:

~ Please let me know the type of clay you are using, and the temperature range of the clay body.

~ Please do not bring in work that has excessive paper or foreign material inside. It is up to you to remove the filler before bringing it in to be fired.

~ Extra charges may apply for loading and unloading lots of little objects at an hourly rate of $25. (example: beads, pendants, wind chimes, miniatures, etc)

~ You may be charged for ruined shelves, damage to the kilns or kiln shelves, or the time it takes to clean kiln shelves if glaze runs from your piece onto the kiln shelf.

~ Custom firing temperatures are only available for full kiln loads.

~ If you have a request outside of these conditions please reach out and we can chat about alternative options.

Firing Schedule:

At the moment I'm firing once a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays, alternating between a glaze fire and a bisque firing every week. So you can expect a 1 week turnaround time to be able to pick your work up.
